Here at The Proto City, we’re an Amsterdam-based blog with a global focus. But, this autumn, all of our contributing authors will be embarking on exchange and research semesters abroad, leaving Amsterdam behind for a short time while we take our focus globally. Basically, The Proto City is heading on a world tour of sorts, visiting five countries in the process.
Curious as to where we’re going and what we’ll be researching? Read on!

While we’re stationed in foreign lands, we will offer global reportage on contemporary urban issues in each of the cities that we will be based in. The articles that we’ll provide from our journeys will include insights into our research, as well as discussions of the salient issues in the cities in which we will be based. Keep visiting this page to see a regularly updated list of articles written on our individual case cities.
The grand tour begins in August and will last until all of us return to the Netherlands during January/February 2013.
