Leon van Keulen (Content Editor)

leon@theprotocity.com

Leon believes in the people centered city and is the creative father of the Suicide Cycle Tour. After having studied Social Sciences (Bsc) and Urban Studies (MSc) in Manchester, Hong Kong and Amsterdam, he tries to share his thoughts about the sustainable urbanity in his blogs on urban migration, socioeconomic dynamics and urban mobility. Leon loves to cycle through densely populated areas and got hit by a scooter, a car and a tram once for doing so. Apart from that, he admires the lives of migrants, who are able to build up their living in new environments with little resources. Now living in Frankfurt(Main), he focuses on analysing the city and developing concepts for his new environment.

Stephan Valenta (Founder and Chief Editor)

stephan@theprotocity.com

Born and raised in Amsterdam, Stephan took the initiative for the ProtoCity blog in April 2012, seeing the need for an accessible publishing platform for young academics. He wrote his master thesis at the University of Amsterdam on mobility transitions with a comparison of bicycle activism in Amsterdam and Berlin. Currently he is working for the Amsterdam Region Transport Authority. Stephan is interested in the obscure: cities which receive little attention, but which have a fascinating story are one of his favourite non-academic subjects to write about.
